David G. Curmi, president of the Malta Chamber presented a copy of the book La Borsa – The People, The Building, The History to Dr George Abela, President of Malta. The presentation took place at San Anton Palace. Members of the Council and La Borsa’s editorial team were also present.

Mr Curmi said that the book was the result of many months of work and that it recorded the commercial and social history of the Chamber, an analytical appreciation of its collection of portraits and paintings, an architectural study of the building and most importantly the personal memoirs of Past Presidents and others who over the years have worked closely with the Chamber.

Judge Giovanni Bonello, the editor of La Borsa said that the importance of the Malta Chamber was difficult to ignore and that this book was a testament to this significance.    Judge Bonello said that usually commerce and art worked in parallel of each other.  In the case of the Malta Chamber, commerce and art worked hand in hand and this publication was a record of this collaboration.

The President was eager to hear and read about the Malta Chamber’s history and about its contribution to the economy since its foundation in 1848.

He expressed his appreciation of the Malta Chamber as a forward looking organisation and for its valued contribution to the business community.  He spoke about the importance of the Malta Chamber forming part of the business delegation during state visits.
