Hilltop Gardens Retirement Village appoint a CEO

Ms Jacqueline Camilleri has been appointed Chief Executive Officer with Simblija Developments Limited, a subsidiary of AX Holdings and will be taking over the management and development of The Hilltop Gardens Retirement Village.  This development is a first for Malta because it brings the concepts of independent living and assisted care under one project.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Camilleri said that “I am proud to have taken on this new and exciting role at the Hilltop Gardens. I have worked at AX Holdings in the past and know the extent of professionalism of this company and this has encouraged me to join the Group once again. Our objectives are to ensure that residents at Hilltop Gardens will be able to age actively and with dignity.  Furthermore Hilltop Gardens will not only provide good quality clinical care but will enable the elderly to continue experiencing quality of life in a community setting.”

Ms Camilleri is a Certified Public Accountant, a graduate of the University of Malta with a B.A (Hons.) degree in Accountancy and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Accountants.  She holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh Business School.

Ms. Camilleri has held various positions within the AX Holdings Group of Companies during the period 1990 – 1998 including that of Finance and Administration Manager of Capua Palace Hospital.

In 1998 Ms. Camilleri joined the Foundation for Medical Services (FMS) as one of the team members responsible for the opening of Mater Dei Hospital.   Ms. Camilleri also has work experience in the United Kingdom where she joined the National Health Service and served as a Directorate Management Accountant at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Ms. Camilleri provided financial consultancy services to the private and national health sector, including her role as Head of Financial Monitoring and Control Unit (FMCU) within the Ministry for Health, Elderly and Community Care.  She has also worked on various consulting assignments, privatisation processes, strategic reviews and business evaluations during her time at MIMCOL.  In the last quarter of 2010, she rejoined the Ministry of Health, Elderly and Community Care as Director General Finance and Administration.

Ms. Camilleri served as a Board Member of the Foundation for Medical Services between 2005 and 2010.  She also served as Vice Chairman of the Malta International Airport between 2008–2013.  Ms. Camilleri also lectured at the Institute of Healthcare (IHC) of the University of Malta between 2008 – 2011.
