Minister for Education and Employmentvisits SmartCity Dubai

Minister for Education and Employment, Hon. EvaristBartolo recently visited SmartCity Dubai,where he was accompanied bythe Rector of the University of Malta, Prof Juanito Camilleri, and Chairman of MCAST, Dr Silvio De Bono. Mr Bartolo attended meetingswhereinMr Anthony P. Tabone, CEO of SmartCity Malta and Mr Abdullatif Al Mulla, CEO of SmartCityDubai, reiterated their full commitment to the successful execution of the SmartCity Malta project.

During his stay, Mr Bartolovisited Dubai Knowledge Village and a number of schools and Universities in Dubai. Moreover, the Minister met with the CEO of SmartCity Dubai who confirmed the support of both the Maltese and Dubai governments towards the project. Mr Al Mullaalso highlighted his appreciation towards the support of the Maltese government, and expressed that he looks forward to having further education institutions at SmartCityMaltabeing part of the knowledge-based economy.

SmartCity® in Dubai internationally develops and manages a global network of self-sustained business townships dedicated to knowledge industries.  SmartCity Malta, along with SmartCity Kochi in India, are the first two projects. Apart from fostering productive linkages and tapping into synergies between knowledge-industry centres worldwide, this global network allows easy access to different markets, talent pools, possibilities of business partnerships and sharing of market intelligence.
