No, it’s not a cruise liner with thousands of tourists coming over to or leaving Malta while on holiday.

It is the sistership of the LNG tanker Gemini, the LNG tanker Capricorn, spotted this morning off the Maltese coast. The liquified natural gas tanker Gemini will soon be a standard feature in the heart of Marsaxlokk Harbour after Mepa last Monday approved the government’s plans to have it berthed to provide gas for the power station.

The Malta Independent online confirmed that the LNG tanker Gemini is in Spain and will soon leave to the East Mediterranean where it will undergo the necessary modifications for it to be in use for several years in Malta.

The LNG Gemini has a length of 285 metres, the size of three football pitches, and a gross tonnage of more than 95,000 tonnes.
