PN Leader Simon Busuttil announced that he will file a libel suit against GWU newspaper l-Orizzont over “blatant lies” it published in today’s edition.

L-Orizzont this morning reported that the Opposition Leader had not declared income received from Europa Research and Consultancy Services Ltd, the company that allegedly pocketed more than €1 million in direct orders.

In a statement, Dr Busuttil that l-Orizzont had published a deceitful report to assist the Prime Minister in his mudslinging campaign against the Opposition Leader.

Dr Busuttil stated: “L-Orizzont has joined forces with Joseph Muscat and the PL in a dirty mudslinging campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of honest people whilst covering up the wrongdoings of others. I will use all tools at my disposal to defend my name and my integrity.”

The PN Leader also published the audited ERCS accounts. He was a company director until 2013. Dr Busuttil said that he is publishing the accounts because “he has nothing to hide.” The accounts belie the PL’s claims that I pocketed astronomical amounts.”

Dr Busuttil insisted that the PM is carrying on with his mudslinging campaigns even from government. “But in doing so he is dirtying politics as well as himself.”
