The Birzebbuga local council is strongly objecting to the decision taken on Thursday by the Mepa board for the Freeport to be used for the maintenance of oil rigs.
The decision will turn the Freeport into a new Drydocks, the council said in a statement.
Unless the decision is revoked, the council will be considering other options to take in the interests of the Birzebbuga residents.
