Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today said that the Nationalist Party is “scraping the bottom of the barrel” by trying to get some political mileage out of the abortion issue.
“The Labour Party and this government is totally against any type of abortion.”
“I categorically deny that the Labour Party or this government wants to introduce abortion,” Dr Muscat said during a visit to Senglea.
Dr Muscat said that former Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi stated prior to the election that a person should not be judged on their sexual orientation when it comes to adoption.
The Prime Minister said that he agrees with this position, with the only difference being that he had remained consistent in his beliefs and “Dr Gonzi changed or is interpreting what he said differently."
On the introduction of banding, Dr Muscat said that it will help teachers better focus on the needs of students.
