PM visits cousin as part of PL campaign; Joseph Muscat in 'ivory tower' - PN

Malta Independent Wednesday, 23 April 2014, 10:47 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Nationalist Party media is reporting that the family that was visited yesterday by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat are his relatives.

On Tuesday, Dr Muscat visited a family in Senglea as part of the Labour Party’s campaign for the European Parliament election.

What the Labour Party did not said, the PN media reports, is that family in question includes a woman who is the first cousin of Dr Muscat.

To hide this fact, the PN media said that journalists were told that the family’s name is Bartolo, when in reality it is Buhagiar.

During his visit, the Pm spoke about the reduction in energy bills.

In a statement, the PN said that the way the Prime Minister opened the Labour Party’s electoral campaign is in sharp contrast with the way the campaign had started for the general election last year.

The PN said one could not help notice that in the first two days of the campaign, Joseph Muscat enclosed himself in an ivory tower and was avoiding journalists and people. Yesterday, the PL’s event was a visit to a relative of the PM.

It is clear that the PM is more comfortable with people who are close to him rather than with others. Instead of addressing press conferences, Dr Muscat is hiding behind addressing mass activities, airing feature on the social media and marketing on billboards.

In one year, Malta Taghna Lkoll became Malta for those close to Labour, the PN said.
