The psychiatrist appointed by the court to examine a man accused of killing cats in Mosta has been dead seven years, not two, The Malta Independent has learnt.

Yesterday, it was reported in all media that the psychiatrist who was to examine Nicholas Grech, who stands accused of killing cats and affixing them to crosses in Mosta, has been dead two years.

But his family has said that the psychiatrist, Dr Joe Pisani, died seven years ago.

Dr Pisani has now been replaced by Dr Ethel Felice, who will join two other psychiatrists, Dr Peter Muscat and Dr David Cassar, to draw up a report about Grech.

Contacted by The Malta Independent, Dr Reuben Balzan, president of the Chamber of Advocates, said that what happened in the court yesterday is a result of a disorganised system.
