Malta Independent Monday, 23 June 2014, 14:45 Last update: about 11 years ago

Paul A Attard, former permanent secretary at the Ministry of Education, died after falling a height of one storey on Sunday evening. He was 72.

Mr Attard presented several religious programmes on television and served on the Board of Governors of Mcast and was chairman of the Public Service Commission.

More recently, he was president of the St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation.

Mr Attard had previously attended a ceremony, which was presided by President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, organised by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta on the feast of St John the Baptist.

Earlier, the police said an elderly man had been found dead after falling the height of one storey last night inside a building in Triq l-Ordinanza, Valletta.

Preliminary investigations found that although the body was found this morning, at about 9.20am, the man, 72, of Birkirkara, was last seen on the building’s roof yesterday evening.

However, further investigations are underway while several experts have been appointed to assist with a magisterial inquiry.
