Urine the clear

A man was today cleared of fracturing his aunt’s arm after she threw a bowl of urine at him during a heated argument.

Terence Zahra, 30, from Marsascala was acquitted of seriously injuring Maria Gatt after they had an argument over a sewage leak.

On the day of the incident on 11 September 2012, Ms Gatt reported the leak to the Health Department. Following the report, her nephew, whose house the sewage was leaking from, went to her house and swore at her.

The court heard how Ms Gatt grabbed a bowl being used to collect the seeping urine and threw the contents at her nephew.

Ms Gatt told the court that her nephew then pushed her to the ground, but Mr Zahra insisted that his aunt in fact slipped.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri noted that the aunt’s version was not backed up by any of the witnesses who testified.
