Enough is enough! – KSU expresses anger on results’ delay

Malta Independent Thursday, 24 July 2014, 12:55 Last update: about 11 years ago

Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) has been in contact with all stakeholders: University of Malta, UMASA, MUT, the Ministry of Education and Employment, the Ministry of Finance and PACBU, however finds that its plea has fallen on deaf ears. No relevant information has been given regarding the impasse in negotiations, particularly from the Government of Malta, which has so far written that it sympathises with the student without, unfortunately credibly acting on the situation we, the students, are in.

While KSU focused all its efforts to gain information on the negotiations, the number of complaints being received increased drastically, both from students and their parents, who remain desperate for some updates and clueless as to when results will be published.

The amount of repercussions that are being created due to this situation keeps increasing every day, with complaints urging us to solve the problems that the students are facing because of the parties’ inability to move forward. It has constantly been communicated to all parties that students are missing out on opportunities, with the situation worsening with every day that passes.

They nonetheless remain adamant in postponing talks, and procrastinating, without acting upon the volume of complaints we have being forwarded to them. Should the tertiary education sector truly be as important as the parties make it out to be, the parties involved, in particular the Ministries involved in this debate, should put their money where their mouth is - and see that the deadlock is resolved without delay rather than postponing talks without sending officials to the negotiation table.

KSU, as stated during a press conference on 18 July, will continue to put pressure on all stakeholders, as it has in the recent weeks, despite not being given adequate replies or any information received. In this light, the correspondence the Council has sent to the relevant authorities, is being published for the student body to be aware of our continued efforts:
