A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a traffic accident todayat about 7.15am in Triq George Borg Olivier, Mellieha.

Preliminary investigations found that the man, 52, who resides in San Gwann, was riding a Kawasaki ER 6N when he collided with a Ford Transit being driven by a 39-year-old man who lives in Saint Paul’s Bay.

The motorcyclist was conveyed to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified to be in danger of loss of life.

An 18-year-old woman residing in Mellieha who was riding pillion was also hospitalised but certified to have sustained slight injuries.

Further investigations are underway while several experts have been appointed to assist with a magisterial inquiry.
