Justice Minister Owen Bonnici should stop insulting people’s intelligence by saying that consultations are still underway on whether local council elections should proceed or not, the Nationalist Party said.

In a press release, the PN said that in a democratic country, an election should not be halted whatsoever, let alone have consultations on whether it should proceed or not. In doing so, the PN added, the justice minister is failing to show respect to local council members, and potential candidates.

The PN urged the government to be clear about its intentions as soon as possible, publish the reform proposal or withdraw it completely.
