Government’s economic policy bearing fruit

Malta Independent Thursday, 28 August 2014, 15:30 Last update: about 11 years ago

The government said in a statement that the month of August has witnessed the highest level of economic confidence among all the countries that form part of the eurozone.

This emerges from findings issued by the European Commission.

“Malta’s economic sentiment has risen to the level of 114, the highest level registered ince April 2008.

“The month of August registered an increase of 12 per cent over the same period during the previous year.

“Malta was one of the few countries in Europe where economic confidence increased,” the statement read.

The statement further read that the services sector remained reporting sustainable improvements. As for the construction industry, for the first time in many years, the majority of operators insisted that they would be employing more workers after reporting an improvement in property sales.

Such results, the statement continued, confirm that this government’s economic policy is bearing its fruit.
