MIA supports Job Bridge programme for persons with disabilities

Malta International Airport has participated in the pre-employment Job Bridge programme, giving 10 jobseekers the chance to experience a day at the airport.

This is the second year that the company has chosen to participate and the airport is also currently providing a four-month work placement to one of the programme’s participants.

“We have always believed in assisting those wishing to pursue a career in our dynamic work environment. This day has been enjoyable for both the participants and MIA staff,” said Malta International Airport Head of Human Resources, Christine Camilleri about the MIA’s involvement in the programme.

The Job Bridge Programme targets jobseekers with disability wishing to enter the labour force to enhance their independent living skills and thus increase their chances of finding employment.

Participants experienced what a typical travel experience entails, getting down to the basics of packing, checking-in, passing through airport security and embarking on the aircraft.

“Each participant was given their own MIA branded luggage and was trained to pack their belongings in preparation for travel.  Meanwhile, the group also had the opportunity to visit the fire section where they were briefed about safety measures taken to prevent incidents,” Ms Camilleri said.         Malta International Airport thanks its partners Globe Ground and Ryanair who contributed in making this day possible.

The programme is administered by the Employment and Training Corporation (ETC).
