One of the gifts Prince William took back home with him after his visit to Malta last Sunday was for his wife Kate - and the gift was presented to him by the Prime Minister's wife, Michelle Muscat.

The gift was a sparkling midnight minaudiere handbag by Sunita Mukhi, a Maltese designer who lives in London. The bag was decorated with countless tiny Swarovski crystals and a white Maltese cross.

The Duchess was expected to visit Malta but a few days before, Buckingham Palace announced that she was expecting her second child and was suffering from acute morning sickness. Instead, Prince William came over for a 24-hour trip as part of celebrations for Malta's 50th anniversary of Independence.
