Finance Minister Edward Scicluna held a number of meetings with senior officials over the weekend from leading international institutions, briefing them about Malta's economic, fiscal and financial outlook.

The meetings are taking place in between the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WB) held in Washington DC.

These annual meetings each year bring together ministers of finance and development, central bankers, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.

Also featured are seminars, regional briefings, press conferences, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world's financial system.

Prof. Scicluna has met with top officials from the global sovereign rating team of leading rating agencies, namely Standard and Poor's, Moody's, Fitch IBCA, and DBRS.

He also met with the IMF Executive Director designate Mr Carlo Cottarelli and the IMF head of Article IV Mission to Malta Ms Pelin Berkmen.

"It is satisfying to keep this annual appointment with these senior officials which serves to update them with Malta's progress and future challenges," said Prof. Scicluna.

The Ministerial delegation included the Central Bank of Malta Governor Josef Bonnici, Deputy Governor Alfred DeMarco, and Alfred Mifsud.
