Tarxien Police Station

Sunday, 12 October 2014, 08:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Since the 1958 riots, we Tarxien residents seem to have lost the right of having a decent Police Station. It’s true there is a flat in Betta Street serving as a Police Station with the national flag flying most of the day, but in reality the place is generally closed. If the need arises for any type of police help, we have to go to the Paola Police Station.

At present, the Tarxien population numbers more than 8,000. Thus, I’m sure many of the villagers are disappointed, as they think they are regarded as second class citizens. To add insult to injury, one can also lament that there’s not even a bank in Tarxien!

I appeal to Interior Minister Dr Manuel Mallia to intervene for us to eliminate this inconvenience. It is unacceptable in this day and age that those belonging to the older generation living on the outskirts of Tarxien have to travel to Paola to solve any particular problems concerning the police.

I think such inconvenience could be solved if a more proper place for a police station is found in our village.
