Still reeling from what it considers an unfair loss to Juventus in Serie A, Roma's players need to turn their attention back to the league after returning from international duty.

Roma trails three-time defending champion Juventus by three points. Roma hosts Chievo Verona on Saturday, while Juventus visits winless Sassuolo.

Also, Inter Milan will host Napoli in a match which pits both coaches against their former clubs.

Here are some things to know about this weekend's matches in the Italian league:

INJURED ROMA

Roma coach Rudi Garcia has a host of injury problems heading into Sunday's match against Chievo Verona.

Juan Iturbe, who missed three league matches with an injured groin earlier this season, has still not recovered from a knee problem he picked up in the Juventus match.

The striker is joined on the sidelines by midfielder Seydou Keita after the Mali international injured his calf. Keita is also almost certain to miss Roma's Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

Kevin Strootman is still injured and midfielder Daniel De Rossi is a doubt. Even if De Rossi recovers in time, Garcia may not want to risk playing him ahead of the Bayern match.

Federico Balzaretti is also still out, while defender Kostas Manolas is suspended.

BATTLE OF THE EXES

Walter Mazzarri's time in charge at Inter Milan could be brought to an end by his former club, Napoli.

Inter has lost its past two matches - including a 4-1 setback at home against Cagliari - and Mazzarri will be desperate to avoid completing a hat trick of losses on Sunday night.

The 53-year-old coach left Napoli for Inter in 2013 after four years in charge.

Rafa Benitez - his replacement at Napoli - is breathing easier after back-to-back wins brought a halt to talk about his dismissal following a poor start to the season.

Benitez also has an added incentive as he was fired by Inter in 2012 after just a few months in charge.

CONTROVERSY CONTINUES

Juventus heads into Saturday's match at Sassuolo alone at the top of the Serie A standings but still with the shadow of the controversy of the win against Roma hanging over the club.

Three points separate the three-time defending champions and Roma following Juventus' 3-2 victory, in which all three of its goals were debatable.

"The thing that harmed Italian football the most is that people talked so much about the incidents and little about the game," Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said. "Technically, it was nice, intense and lovely to watch.

"People always highlight the bad things. Everyone says 'Italian football is awful,' but no one does anything to improve it. Everyone says 'Italian referees are the worst,' but then we see them refereeing the World Cup final."

LAST CHANCE?

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini insists Giuseppe Iachini will not be fired if he fails to steer the Sicilian team to victory on Sunday against Cesena.

Palermo is without a win this season and has lost its past two matches but Zamparini, who is notorious for his ruthless treatment of his coaches, said Iachini will be at the club for years to come.

"It's all nonsense, it's not the last chance at all," Zamparini said. "Iachini is like a son to me, he will stay with me for another four to five years. Also because I'm convinced that we will win our next five games."

TIME TO SHINE

Stephan El Shaarawy is expected to be given his chance to shine again when AC Milan visits Hellas Verona on Sunday.

The Italy forward was injured for much of last season and has made only three appearances this season.

However, El Shaarawy has impressed with his dedication in training during the international break and Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has often spoke of his admiration for the 21-year-old forward.

El Shaarawy could start in Verona, where he will be looking for his first league goal since scoring in the Milan derby in February 2013.
