University opens its doors to the public

Next Sunday, 26 October, the University of Malta is inviting the public, staff, current students, prospective students, alumni, their friends and families to visit campus and participate in a host of activities being organised to show how this 400 year old institution operates. Visitors will be able to hear about cutting edge research, walk around parts of campus they have never been to and learn about what goes on at University.  From 10am to 5pm visitors will be able to join the tours, listen to the talks, visit exhibitions and participate in sport activities. Canteen facilities are open all day and parking is available at car par 6 by the main gate, on the side of Mater Dei Hospital. In the Marquee (Car Park 4) one can visit the different zones, including those related to Creativity, the Centre for the Liberal Arts and Sciences. One can also obtain information about the recently excavated Phoenician shipwreck and spend some time at the dynamic Science area, which this year is specially laid out to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Faculty. The Open Week, Discover University, is between 26 and 31 October. From Monday 27 to Friday 29 October activities are mainly reserved for secondary school students and sixth formers.Activities will showcase the University's many facets through a number of themes including: Courses; Research; Faculties & Departments/Institutes/Centres; Student Life; Sports; Cultural Activities; the Library; Malta University Holding Company and the Research, Innovation and Development Trust. A pavilion in Atriju Vassalli will feature academic and cultural activities with a special focus on Medicine and Surgery, while another tent will host some exciting Digital Games and the remarkable UoM Racing Car.The state of the art building of the Faculty of ICT, the Library, the building of the Faculty for the Built Environment and the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation will also be open to visitors.
