With no date yet announced on when the new parliament is expected to be finished, contractors and suppliers are fighting a legal battle on who's responsible for the delay.

Maltese company Q Stone Ltd today filed a counter protest against the Italian company CFF Filiberti, the company contracted to lay the stones on the façade of the new parliament building.

In a judicial protest filed on 15 October, CFF Filiberti had said that the Maltese company, tasked with providing the stone work, did not deliver within established timeframes, leading to delays in the opening of the new parliament. In addition, it said that the stone is of inferior quality.

In the counter protest, Q Stone Ltd denied the claims, saying it has delivered the required material in time. It added that the Italian Company owns Q Stone Ltd €250,000; however this, did not have an effect on the provision of material.

Q Stone Ltd said it is unacceptable for the Italian company to make such claims and use the media to gain attention. The local company is requesting CFF Filiberti to withdraw the accusations within five days.
