Din l-Art Ħelwa 49th Anniversary Autumn Concert and Dinner

Din l-Art Ħelwa are holding their 49th Anniversary Autumn Concert and Dinner at Villa Arrigo, Naxxar, on Friday, 21 November.

The concert will feature a harp and piano performance by world-renowned German harpist Silke Aichhorn and the highly talented pianist Sofia Narmania who will regale the audience with works by Smetana, John Cheshire, Susan Mc Donald / Linda Wood, Bernard Andrès, Schubert, Bizet, Mozart and Chopin.

This concert has been made possible by the generous sponsorship of Heribert Grünert, a most valued life member and benefactor of Din l-Art Ħelwa, in the run-up to the 50th anniversary of the NGO's Golden Jubilee.

Ms Aichhorn is one of the most sought after German harpists. She performs extensively both as a soloist as well as in various chamber formations. She is widely applauded by the public and the critics. She has given concerts all over Europe, in Brazil, Thailand, Japan, Australia and the USA. She is a frequent guest on radio and television programmes and has 20 CDs to her credit.  Silke has been teaching music for 29 years and gives master classes on a regular basis.  Recently, together with flutist Prof. Dejan Gavric, she had the privilege of giving a private concert for Pope Emeritus Benedikt XVI, which was aired on Vatican Radio.

Ms Narmania was born in the Republic of Abkhazia in a family of musicians. At a very early age, she demonstrated her outstanding musical ability. At the age of 10, she performed Beethoven's 2nd Piano Concerto with orchestra, to great public acclaim. She studied at the Moscow State Conservatoire where she also completed her post graduate education. She has won numerous awards and prizes in international prestigious piano competitions. Sofia has performed as a soloist with many orchestras and has given several recitals in the main halls of Moscow and other cities in the Russian Federation as well as in Greece, Holland, Germany and Malta. Her repertoire is vast, ranging from Scarlatti to modern day composers.

Welcome drinks will be served at 7.15pm and the concert will start at 8pm. After the concert, guests will be treated to a gourmet dinner served by Osborne Caterers. Tickets cost €50 per person all inclusive.
