The annual Thomas Smith Christmas Charity Swim is back! Now in its 16th edition, the swim will this year be held on 28th December, traditionally on the Sunday that falls between Christmas and New Year.
The public is encouraged to participate and raise as many funds as possible in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund, and make way to the long-established location off the pier in front of the Plough and Anchor Pub, Sliema. Registration starts at 09.30hrs. H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, is expected to launch the Christmas Charity swim at 10:30hrs. Swimmers should allow ample time for parking, and registration queues.
Last year a record-breaking number of swimmers participated in this noble event. A total of 299 people braved the cold, jellyfish-infested waters. A cheque of €13,000 was later presented to President Emeritus George Abela at the San Anton Palace.
Thomas Smith aims to collect even more funds this year, and would once again like to encourage swimmers to raise €50 per participant. Family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, are urged to help sponsor swimmers in order to help them raise funds!!
Each participant may fill in a donations tracker form prior to the event with relevant details and amounts donated by the swimmers' sponsors. The form may be retrieved from the Thomas Smith Christmas Charity Swim facebook page, or by contacting Thomas Smith offices on 22 058 058.
