Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has reacted to a press conference called earlier this afternoon by PN Leader Simon Busuttil and insisted that he will wait until an independent inquiry - which has access to all evidence related to the Gzira shooting incident - before taking any decisions.
The PN media yesterday published the transcripts of phone calls between Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia, Government spokesman Kurt Farrugia, Acting Police Commissioner Ray Zammit and Mallia's driver, Paul Sheehan. Earlier today, PN Leader Simon Busuttil referred to the transcripts and challenged the Prime Minister to publish the official log of his telephone conversations that night as proof he was not aware what was going on.
In a statement this afternoon, Dr Muscat said: "There is a fundamental difference between me and the Opposition Leader: Simon Busuttil is choosing to be selective and issuing pieces of information that suit him. On my part I appointed an independent inquiry that has access to all information, including trancripts, recordings and every other piece of evidence."
Dr Muscat reiterated that he will wait for the outcome of the inquiry before taking the necessary decisions.
