Nationalist Party says Maltese are now expecting efficient and punctual public transport service

Thursday, 18 December 2014, 12:28 Last update: about 10 years ago

Yesterday, it was announced that the new public transport operator will start as of January 2015.

In a press statement, the Nationalist Party said that this agreement was the source of controversy as from the start, and Minister Joe Mizzi even visited Spain to deal with the company Autobuses de Leon, even before the best offer was chosen.

The PN said that the public now expects an efficient public transport system which has been promised by both Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Mr Mizzi himself. The first of the government's plan failed, and the service provided over 2014 has worsened, causing an increase in traffic congestion.

The subsidy is more than double that paid by Arriva, and is set to increase from the second year in operation. Thus, the Maltese public only expects a professional and punctual transport service.
