In her sworn affidavit, a student with a BSc with a first class honors and an MSc, with Distinction from University College London, has been refused a scholarship through the Malta Government Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) .
She said that she has already been accepted to undertake a PHD at University College London.
Among her arguments, was that the persons conducting her interviews did not have the relevant expertise in her field to truly understand and thus the point system used was unfair to her.
Dr Andrew Borg Cardona, on the student’s behalf, has filed a suit against the Ministry for Education.
They are asking the Court to declare that the Minister fell short of taking care of the interest of the applicant, orders the Minister to change the MGSS marks so that the applicant in question can be eligible for the scholarship and have it given to her in order to make use of the opportunity to undertake the PHD and give every other remedy where failures on behalf of the Ministry were made.
