The month of October has been another positive month in terms of collective accommodation when compared to the same period last year, the NSO registering a 3.1% increase and two per cent increase in tourist arrivals and nights spent.

October marked a record in nights spent in collective accommodation, that of 840,000 nights.

The hotel accommodation category also registered an increase, with five-star hotels witnessing a four per cent increase when compared to the same period last year.

Five-star hotels in Gozo also registered a marked increase.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis noted with satisfaction the results for October and said that it is a continuation of the successes witnessed month after month in the tourism sector, particularly in collective accommodation.

He said that the government continues to be committed towards moving in this positive direction, which is leading to more wealth, profits and investment in the industry which in turn results in more money in people’s pockets.
