Paving work in Ordinance Street, Valletta has been completed, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi announced today.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Mizzi said the works were completed in preparation for when the flea market moves to that street next year.

He said efforts have been made in order to ensure that the market stalls are all of the same design.

Mr Mizzi said that the paving works cost €350,000 and included a change in the Water Services mains system and the laying of cables by Enemalta.

A mix of lava natural stone and hard stone was used for the paving.

Last July, the paving had to be re-laid at the cost of the contractor as it was not up to standard.

Mr Mizzi said there are plans in place to restore the Triton and Wignacourt fountains, as well as the Wignacourt Tower. He also announced the completion of restoration works on the House of Catalunya.
