The measly decrease in the price of fuels does not reflect the real price of fuels across the world, the Nationalist Party said today. The government yesterday announced that the prices of diesel and petrol had gone down, as promised in the budget.
However, the PN said today that fuel prices in Malta remain among the highest in Europe and this was nothing to boast about. The measly reduction of one cent on diesel and two cents on petrol is yet more proof of how Joseph Muscat is continuing to rob families on fuels. The international prices of oil are on the decrease and local prices do not reflect the global scenario. This is detrimental to Maltese families and businesses.
The PN said its claims were substantiated by a number of recent studies which showed that fuel prices in Malta are among the highest in the EU. It called on the government to immediately publish its fuel procurement agreement and decrease the price of petrol and diesel.
