The government holds no record as to how many illegal immigrants being held at detention centers required medical assistance following violent acts. It does however, hold records as to how many members of the Armed Forces of Malta required assistance because of such acts.
Between 2005 and 2012, 30 members of the Armed Forces working at the detention centers had to be given medical treatment following violent incidents. These records, also present details of injuries suffered.
This was revealed by Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela, in reply to a question put forward by Labour MP Anthony Aguis Decelis.
