BRUSSELS (AP) - FRANCE-ATTACKS

PARIS - With printing press, medals and ceremonies thousands of miles apart, France and Israel paid tribute Tuesday to those killed in three days of bloodshed and horror, as authorities intensified the search for any remaining members of the terror cell whose attacks in Paris left 17 victims and three gunmen dead. In Bulgaria, authorities said they had arrested a Frenchman linked to one of the attackers. A caricature of the Prophet Muhammad is to appear Wednesday on the cover of Charlie Hebdo, weeping and holding a placard with the words "I am Charlie." By Lori Hinnant and Angela Charlton.

FRANCE-MUSLIMS UNDER PRESSURE

PARIS - Firebombs and pig heads thrown into mosques. Veiled women subjected to crude insults in the street. The Internet awash with threats against Muslims. Europe's Muslims are feeling the heat of a fierce backlash following last week's terror attack against French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

FRANCE-ATTACKS-PRESIDENT

PARIS - French President Francois Hollande comforted and united his nation during its worst terrorist attacks in decades, transforming himself from the most unpopular leader of modern France into the "father of the nation" and a statesman who brought world leaders together to link arms and march through Paris to defy extremism. His prime minister, Manuel Valls, also emerged stronger after the three days of terrorist attacks that left 20 dead, managing the muscular operational reaction including deploying thousands of troops and police.

RUSSIA-POLAND

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin will not travel to a ceremony in Poland marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazis' Auschwitz death camp, the Kremlin said Tuesday, a decision that reflects a chill in Russia-West ties. By Vladimir Isachenkov and Monika Scislowska.

BRITAIN-ECONOMY

LONDON - U.K. inflation has slowed to its equal-lowest rate on record, an annual 0.5 percent in December, amid a drop in oil prices, the Office of National Statistics said Tuesday. While the drop will force Bank of England Governor Mark Carney to write a letter to Treasury chief George Osborne, explaining why inflation is over a percentage point below the bank's 2 percent target, some economists say the decline is good news for the British economy.

AIRBUS-SALES

FRANKFURT, Germany - Boeing Co. topped Airbus in deliveries to customers for the third straight year in 2014 - but the European aircraft manufacturer edged its U.S. rival in terms of future orders. Airbus, which is headquartered in Toulouse, France, reported Tuesday that it delivered 629 planes, shy of Boeing's record 723 deliveries. But Airbus racked up 1,456 net new orders, just ahead of Boeing's 1,432. New orders are key to future market share.

GERMANY-ECONOMY

BERLIN - Germany says that in 2014 it achieved its first balanced budget since 1969, a year earlier than planned, thanks to low interest rates, higher tax revenue and other factors. The Finance Ministry said in a statement Tuesday that historically low interest rates meant that Germany paid less on previous credit, and overall spending was a billion euros less than budgeted, at 295.5 billion euros ($348.8 billion).

ARMENIA-KILLING

YEREVAN, Armenia - Russian troops stationed in Armenia have detained a Russian soldier suspected of shooting dead a family of six. He was detained while trying to cross from Armenia into Turkey.

TURKEY-ATTACK

ISTANBUL - Turkey's state-run news agency says authorities were questioning six people, including some foreigners, in connection with a suicide bombing at an Istanbul police station.
