TURKEY-CORRUPTION

ISTANBUL - In what could be the final chapter of a graft investigation that once seemed to threaten the inner circle of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's parliament is preparing to vote on whether to send four former ministers to court. Given the strong majority of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the parliament looks set to sweep away an investigation that rocked Turkish politics in late 2013, when prosecutors launched a spectacular series of raids. 

GERMANY-TERRORISM-RAIDS

BERLIN - Some 200 police officers raided 13 homes in Berlin and elsewhere in Germany Tuesday, in connection with the arrests last week of two suspected members of an Islamic terror cell. Police spokesman Michael Gassen said the raids were mostly on close associates of the pair..

FRANCE-ATTACKS

PARIS - Four men are facing preliminary charges Tuesday on suspicion of links to a gunman involved in France's deadliest terrorist attacks in decades. The Paris prosecutor's office said the four, who would be the first to face charges in the case, are suspected of providing logistical support to Amedy Coulibaly.

EUROPE-ECONOMY

FRANKFURT, Germany - Europe's stagnant economy got two pieces of upbeat news Tuesday even as the European Central Bank prepares to launch more stimulus measures. A survey of market optimism Germany rose more than expected in January thanks to cheaper oil and a weaker euro, while a survey of bank lending showed more demand from companies for loans to invest in new production.

DAVOS FORUM-TRUST

DAVOS, Switzerland - Trust in institutions has fallen to levels not seen since the financial crisis, after a year that produced the twin Malaysia Airlines disasters and the conflict in Ukraine, a global survey found Tuesday. As the world's business elite gathered in the Swiss resort of Davos, the public relations firm Edelman found that general level of trust in institutions - among college-educated people around the globe - at levels not seen since 2009 in many of the markets it surveyed.

PARIS - The Cannes Film Festival says brothers Joel and Ethan Coen will be the festival jury's first joint chairmen. In a statement Tuesday, the festival said the nomination of the men who made "Raising Arizona," ''Fargo" and "Barton Fink" - which won the prestigious Palme d'Or - is part of its celebration of all "cinema brothers."

LISBON, Portugal - Portugal and Real Madrid soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo confirms that he has broken up with his longtime girlfriend, Russian model Irina Shayk.
