Grandmother wins Ford Fiesta after husband joins The Point competition in her name

When Mariella Xerri de Caro's husband filled out three lottery tickets in her name after a Christmas shopping spree at The Point, little did he know he was giving her a brand new Ford Fiesta.

Mrs Xerri de Caro, a 68-year-old grandmother who lives in Sliema, traded in her 13-year-old worn out VW Polo for a shiny Ford Fiesta after being crowned winner of The Point's winter Shop & Win competition.

"It's the first time I ever won anything," she said, "and I still can't believe it's a car!"

"My husband regrets filling out the tickets in my name, but I don't regret it at all," said Ms Xerri de Caro, jokingly. "I even let him drive it, once!"

Her husband offered to fill out the tickets after the two spent an afternoon choosing Christmas gifts for family from different outlets at The Point, namely Massimo Dutti, Debenhams and Punt Roma.

"It's always a pleasure to treat our clients for being so loyal to our brands. Ms Xerri de Caro is a great person and a very deserving winner," said Ilona Debattista, Marketing Manager at The Point, adding that customers should look out for the mall's next Shop & Win competition.

The Shop & Win competition was organised with the support of Gazan Zammit. Anyone shopping at any of The Point outlets during November and December was given a promotional ticket with every €25 spent. The winning ticket was drawn and the winner announced on December 31st.
