Fuel market is liberalised, government says in reply to UHM

Thursday, 29 January 2015, 07:48 Last update: about 10 years ago

In a terse statement, the government has clarified that the fuels market in Malta is liberalised and anyone in the sector is at liberty to compete on prices.

The government was replying to the Union Haddiema Maghqudin which had earlier issued a statement requesting information about price liberalisation in the fuel market. This followed the case of a petrol station that lowered the price of fuel, only to be forced to raise it again following pressure by the supplier.
