Squabble at Fgura local council ends up in front of local governance board

Thursday, 29 January 2015, 17:27 Last update: about 10 years ago

Infighting at the Fgura local council ended up with a complaint being filed with the local governance board after councillor Charles Bonello did not manage to attend an urgent meeting.

The meeting was called overnight and Mr Bonello, who was former Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi’s private secretary, did not see the email notification about the meeting.

The council’s executive secretary refused to put Mr Bonello down as ‘excused’ in the minutes for that meeting.

The Governance Board ruled that the council should have been more flexible given the short-notice prior to the meeting.
