President Emeritus, Dr Eddie Fenech yesterday presented a cheque for €45,000 to Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The sum represents the revenue from the sales of the autobiography “EDDIE – My Journey” that hit the bookstalls in February of last year.
On the occasion of his 81st birthday, Dr Fenech Adami, accompanied by members of his family, attended a thanksgiving Mass in the chapel of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. At the end of the Mass, he was presented with a silver platter bearing the thanks and signature of Mgr Michael Azzopardi.
Fr Martin said that Dr Fenech Adami was always a regular visitor and supporter of the Home. Right after his swearing-in as Prime Minister after the 1987 general elections, Dr Fenech Adami’s first official act was to sign a deed allowing Dun Mikiel to be buried in the home’s grounds.
Total revenues from the sale of the autobiography amounted to €50,000. Id-Dar tal-Providenza benefited of €45,000 while the Joseph Calleja Foundation was given €5,000.
