The internet has become one of the major necessities of life. For the majority of Internet users, the World Wide Web represents opportunity that enhances well-being. For others, however, it can lead to problematic use.
To date, no large scale study has been conducted locally to estimate the prevalence of possible Problematic Internet Use (PIU). The President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society is conducting a survey to examine problematic internet use among 18 to 30 year olds. The study will be conducted by the National Statistics Office through an anonymous and confidential computer assisted telephone interview.
Members of the public are advised to expect a telephone call from the NSO during the month of February asking them to participate in this survey. Only a random sample of the population will be contacted, and the survey will take around 20 minutes to complete.
