Education Minister Evarist Bartolo today attended to the launch of a project tied to the Entrepreneurship through Education programme where a comic was compiled by students and educators of the Maria Regina School in Mosta.

The scheme’s funds are open to state schools. Artist Andrea Delicata, youth worker Anna Maria Grech and Learning Support Assistant Margaret Delicata were involved in the project.

The comic called Karusu u Flusu – which is to be distributed in other schools - conveys the message to other students that one should save money. It also conveys a message that students should not spend too much time playing computer games.

Addressing students, Mr Bartolo said that overspending can lead to future problems. He also made reference to victims of loan sharks, where persons fall victim to unaffordable interest rates.

Mr Bartolo also took the opportunity to warn those present to avoid drinking too many soft drinks and eating sweets while also stating that students were spending far too much time playing computer games, leading to a lack of communication.

“Doctors have told me that they have seen to children who have health problems a 50-year-old person would be expected to have,” he said.

Turning to the project, he said the fact that the project was done throughout the summer months means that education does not simply stop at schools but continues outside schools.

This is the concept we are trying to push by means of the Education Plus project the government launched recently, Mr Bartolo added.
