Disastrous road in Safi

Sunday, 1 March 2015, 07:51 Last update: about 10 years ago

A few weeks ago, I sought the assistance of your newspaper to complain about the disastrous state that Birzebbuga Road in Safi is. There are potholes all over this road, including a trench which was dug by a farmer to collect rain water. This trench has been transformed into a crater due to rain and cars driving over it. The potholes are so deep that farmers who use this road are filling them with stones. Others, including me, are taking other roads to go to Hal Far. This has resulted in more fuel expenses. One has to bear in mind that these potholes are life threatening. Most of the rubble walls on this road are over six feet high and if one loses control of the car on hitting one of these potholes, he can crash into a wall and remain buried under the rubble.

Although many Safi residents have forwarded this complaint to Safi mayor Francis Callus, our request has been ignored and we feel we are being bullied with this attitude. Now, through this letter, I am asking for police intervention to have this road in good driving condition.
