Mottura Vini Del Salento

Founded by Pasquale Mottura in 1927 Mottura Vini Del Salento are a product of a 90 year old family history of Salentinian wine making which is now in its fourth generation that have always respected local traditions. This experience has been coupled by innovation and typical vines such as Primitivo and Negroamaro now form the backbone of the company's particular art of wine-making.

The family's heartland lies in a 50 hectare vineyard estate supplemented by the consortium's - 200 hectares in the province of Lecce. The winery on the otherhand boasts the most advanced equipment and technology in the fermentation and maceration maturation processes, apart from having a 40,000 quintal storage capacity. The company's cellars are situated in Tuglie and although they are very old still have a storage capacity of 20,000 hectolitres and have the most advanced technologies installed for wine stabilization.

The company's team  of agronomists and oenologists continuously work on new projects that follow innovative wine-making procedures to elevate quality standards and to protect traceability throughout all the productive steps. The company's recent procedures of quality and food safety have been certified by the International Standards "BRC" (British Retail Consortium - Grade A) and "IFS" (International Food Standard - Higher Level).

Laboratory analysis takes place throughout all production processes from the grape growing stage to the bottling stages and total production today accounts for the sale of more than 3 million bottles of Mottura's premium wines in Italy and abroad.

Mottura Vini Del Salento has won important Italian national and international awards in recognition of its successful strategies. The company's top range, "Le Pitre" line is reviewed in all the well known Italian wine guide books (Gambero Rosso, Espresso, Veronelli) besides winning an impressive collection of medal awards. In 2011 "Le Pitre" wines were awarded three silver medals, particularity in recognition of "Primitino del Salento's" exceptional quality.

It is no mean fact that the Mottura Vini Del Salento company today has a 40% market share of Apulian wines and ranks among the top 30 wine producers in Italy. Its main aim is that people enjoy all the colour and flavours of the seductive Southern area of Salento just by drinking a glass or two of their superior quality wines.
