Minister for Foreign Affairs George W. Vella is in Riga, Latvia to participate in the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs (GYMNICH).

The meeting will be presided by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs.

Ministers are expected to discuss the situation in Libya and Ukraine.

In comments given before his departure, Minister Vella expressed his satisfaction that the situation in Libya will be discussed in the necessary detail in view of the important political developments that have taken place over the past weeks as well as in relation to the pressing migration scenario that should be treated as a priority by all EU Member States.
