No fixed time-frame given as yet to when national renewable energy action plan will be made public

The government has not yet set a deadline to when the national renewable energy action plan would be made public when the government had stated that it would publish it in September 2013.

This emerged in parliament after PN MP George Pullicino asked Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi when the government intends announcing its NREAP plan.

Dr Mizzi’s reply was simple: “The plan is doable and will reflect the decisions taken by Mepa in recent weeks.”

Mr Pullicino also asked the minister to state the amount of electricity the country would be generating through the use of solar and wind energy to help reach its 2020 energy targets.

Dr Mizzi replied: “The government reached its interim targets in terms of renewable energy and such details are included in the plan which will be made public.”
