In the past two years, expenditure of public sector wages has increased by over €126 million, it was revealed in parliament tonight.

The information was tabled by Finance Minister Edward Scicluna after a parliamentary question put forward by PN’s deputy leader Mario De Marco.

The increase in expenditure for the public sector between 2005 and 2014 were as follows.

2005 - €10, 352,000

2006 - €10,200,000

2007 – €29,227,000

2008 - € 130, 492,000

2009 - €7, 927,000

2010 – €16, 790,000

2011 - €27,134,000

2012- €40,068,000

2013 – €54, 910,000

2014 - €72,015,000
