Since the passing of the civil union bill in parliament a year ago, 47 civil unions were registered across Malta and Gozo.
A year after the bill was passed in parliament, the government has continued to work to pass other legislations promoting inclusion and equality and after years of lagging behind, Malta is now at the forefront, the Labour Party said in a statment. The introduction of civil union and the gender identity bill has also caught the attention of international media, and the government is committed to continue promoting equality.
The statment continued that while Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil continues being negative, the government continues to be proactive to ensure our Malta remains ‘the benchmark and beacon of hope’ in the sector.
