NSTS, local representatives of the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), welcome Malta Public Transport’s initiative to start using electronic cards in a bid to increase efficiency and promote higher usage, particularly students of further and higher education.

In a stamen, NSTC said it believes that the transport card, if integrated with existing systems, can lead to new opportunities for the Maltese youth.

Transport operators in various countries, including Denmark and Canada, have teamed up with ISIC and integrated the student card with the transport system.  While giving them the benefits of being the transport card, the ISIC card is also used by universities, canteens, banks and other shops to reach out to the young generation.

The ISIC is a security and intelligent student identity card that has numerous versatile uses thanks to the construction of its embedded technology. It is a global card that can be used by students around the world to benefit from great discounts.

NSTS are ISIC look forward to the new developments in the Malta Public Transport and encourage the operator to embrace youth specific systems that have been tried and tested abroad with positive results, the statement concluded.
