Former Zebbug mayor Alfred Grixti has been ousted by 25-yearold Labour candidate Sarah Agius and, at 18 years of age, Terence Agius became the youngest mayor, of Kirkop, to be elected in this year’s local council elections.

Other new Labour mayors include Domenic Grima in Paola, Joe Casha in Senglea, Konrad Borg Manché in Gzira, Christian Sammut in Hamrun, and Terence Ellul in Sta Lucija.

Labour Floriana candidate Davina Sammut Hili has been elected mayor, and Labour Munxar candidate Carmen Said will also take her council’s top spot.

Following the departure of Birzebbuga mayor Joseph Farrugia, Kevin Barun was elected mayor of Birzebbuga while neighbouring Marsaxlokk will have Horace Gauci as its new mayor.

Among Nationalist councils, Giljan Aquilina will be the new Gharghur mayor, and Ian Spiteri will head the Balzan local council.

Elsewhere in Gozo, Noel Formosa returns to the San Lawrenz council as mayor after a hiatus, Franco Ciangura was elected mayor in Ghajnsielem and Edward Said will head the Nadur council
