Monday, 20 April 2015, 13:22 Last update: about 10 years ago

Ivan Falzon, Chief Executive Office of Mater Dei hospital, in a post on facebook, is encouraging people to send bouquets of flowers to Mater Dei to show respect and solidarity to the 24 migrants who lost their lives.

Mr Falzon said, "that normally you read messages urging you to donate money to a charity instead of sending flowers and thoughts. Friends, today I'm asking you to go ahead and order a bouquet, a little thought for these people, they don't have anyone to do it for them in little Malta." Mr Falzon added that the probability is that "their families, friends and relatives, "don't even know they ceased to exist. If you decide to do it forward to, The Unidentified, The Mortuary, Mater Dei Hospital Msida."

"We couldn't offer them the chance for a better life. Let's at least guarantee a decent, caring burial. They are human, they deserve this," Mr Falzon said. Mr Falzo told this newsroom that the response was good and that while many bouqets and wreaths had been received, more were expected tomorrow.
