A 15-year-old French girl was injured after falling down a shaft in a hotel in Triq Andrew Cunningham, Qawra on Monday at about 9.10 p.m, the police said.

The police later clarified that although she fell from the sixth floor, she was fortunately caught in a network of pipes on the fifth floor, from where she was eventually rescued by members of the Civil Protection Department.

Civil protection personnel and a medical team were called on site to rescue the girl since the place she fell into could not be easily accessed.

She sustained minor injuries.

Qawra Police were also on site to investigate.
