The hunters’ federation said that once again Birdlife representatives have been caught with a protected bird in their possession.

In a statement signed by Lino Farrugia, the federation’s chief executive officer, the FKNK said that the circumstances show that Birdlife are once again flouting the law by being illegally in possession of a protected bird on Thursday.

The FKNK was referring to the finding of a cuckoo in Mizieb.

The FKNK said that it hoped that in futire Birdlife is more correct in its approach, since if it results that a protected bird “was really shot” by a hunter, this incident would be investigated by the police to increase the possibility that the perpetrator is brought to book.

The bird would have a stronger possibility of surviving and of being rehabilitated.

The FKNK requested that it is informed about the outcome of the police investigations.
